This stunning Valley Crescent House was completed in 2017, designed by Condon Scott Architects. It sits proudly on a suburban section overlooking a reserve with spectacular views in every room.

The design concept organises the home into three gabled pavilions all orientated towards the view, with the living wing in the centre and the master and guest bedroom wings on either side. Full height windows in all three pavilions captures the panoramic views of Lake Wanaka, Treble Cone and Black Peak. The matt black aluminium framed windows create a bold modern look to the house when combined with the robust materials of steel cladding and schist against the warm cedar.

The central pavilion features the living room with floor to ceiling, double glazed sliding doors with flush level access looking out to the western view. One whole corner of the living room and passage can be opened up using the bifold doors making it easy to move outdoors to the large courtyard. The kitchen faces east, incorporating sliding windows that allows the morning sun to flood in.

The house is fully automated in regards to heating. It features underfloor heating and the concrete floor has been designed for passive heating. The use of Metro ThermalHeart which creates a thermal break between the aluminium making the double glazing 20% more efficient helps maintain the internal temperature of the home. High performance double glazing with Low E, Argon Gas and Thermal Spacer means this luxury home stays warm and comfortable throughout Central Otago’s cold winter months. In summer the high level louvres shade the large windows mitigating the summer heat.
