Designed by DK Architecture and built by Barry Sward Building, this alfresco extension is comprised mainly of residential aluminium joinery. The matt ghost grey powder coated aluminium windows and doors tie in with the breeze block and natural stone clad fireplace, to create an additional living space. This great outdoor living room can be closed off from outside conditions, making it usable all year round.
Design Windows Dunedin worked with the architect to maximise the openings between the concrete block and steel. Door sills were all recessed into the floor for a level threshold to maximize the flow to outside. Bi-folding doors either side of the fireplace lead out to an extensive deck area in the back yard. A third bi-fold door and sliding door combine to open out to the valley views. Sliding windows feature on the opposite side creating a great serving space. Design Windows also assisted with the onsite installation details to give a seamless finish.
This glass conservatory has a large area of glazing to capture good solar gain while giving great views out over the valley. The windows and doors in this extension help make the ultimate outdoor living room with the ability to open it up in the summer and close it up in the winter.
