In 2024, Design Windows Nelson proudly celebrated 40 years in business. Founded in 1984 by Brian Everett, the company began with humble beginnings as a family-owned business originally known as The Building Shoppe and later rebranded as Design Windows.

Today, Design Windows Nelson has grown into a leading manufacturer of high-quality aluminium windows and doors. Owned by Peter Walker, Michael Musso and Mario Musso, our Nelson branch proudly employs a dedicated team of 27 local staff and serves the Nelson/Tasman community from Nelson Lakes to The Marlborough Sounds and Golden Bay area.

With many years of experience in aluminium and uPVC joinery, our team works closely with both builders, architects and homeowners to make choosing and installing windows and doors as simple and straightforward as possible.

Our experienced Project Managers will guide you through the best options for your project — from aluminium or Klima (uPVC) frames to glazing choices, hardware, and the most suitable window and door styles, whether that’s sliding windows, bi-folds, or something more customised.

We can also provide a detailed quote directly from your plans — simply email them through to us or attach to your quote enquiry.

With a wide range of product displays, colour samples and brochures available, you can see and feel the options before making your decision.

Community Involvement

At Design Windows Nelson, we are proud to support local sporting clubs, community groups, and charitable organisations. As a local business, we believe strongly in giving back and helping the community that supports us.

Our team is involved with a range of initiatives and sponsorships across the region, including support for FC Nelson, the Nelson Netball Junior Umpires Programme, and New Zealand weightlifter Litia Nacagilevu. We are also proud to contribute to important local organisations such as the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust and the SPCA Nelson Centre.

In addition to company sponsorships, our staff participate in a weekly giving initiative. Team members can choose to donate $1 from their weekly pay, and together we vote on which local charity or organisation will receive the funds. It’s a simple way for our team to work together to make a positive impact in our community.
